The clinic uses the hospital’s surgical facilities and infrastructure, which provides patients with the safety and governance standards of a hospital environment. However, Laser Vision Centre Derby is an independently run private clinic. Appointments, bookings and patient care are managed directly through derbyeyes.co.uk.

Our Technology
The clinic uses the Carl Zeiss VisuMax laser platform — one of the most advanced systems available in the UK. It supports the full range of refractive procedures from surface laser treatment through to keyhole SMILE surgery, and enables highly customised treatment planning for each individual patient.
Carl Zeiss VisuMax is the only platform certified to perform SMILE surgery, making Laser Vision Centre Derby one of a limited number of clinics in the East Midlands able to offer this procedure.
Mr Maghizh Anandan — Lead Consultant
Mr Maghizh Anandan is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and corneal specialist with over 22,000 procedures completed across laser eye surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation and complex refractive surgery.
He trained at Oxford, completed a fellowship in cornea, refractive surgery and glaucoma at the Royal Perth Hospital and Lions Eye Institute in Western Australia, and completed an honorary fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London under Professor John Dart.
Mr Anandan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He performs over 1,000 cataract surgeries annually and is among a small number of UK surgeons operating at that volume.
