Biography

I am a seasoned Consultant Ophthalmologist with a proven track record of service in the hospital and healthcare sector. My expertise spans cataract surgery, laser (SMILE) surgery, and corneal and refractive surgery.

I specialise in refractive lens exchange and premium cataract surgery, utilising trifocals to eliminate the need for glasses even without cataract presence. Additionally, I excel in laser eye surgery (LASIK, LASEK, SMILE, PTK), PRESBYOND – laser presbyopic solution, implantable contact lens (ICL) for high prescriptions, and corneal transplantation, including endothelial (DSAEK). My expertise extends to the surgical management of keratoconus, covering collagen cross-linking, Intacs, and penetrating keratoplasties, as well as glaucoma management, including surgical trabeculectomies, and minor lid procedures such as cyst and chalazion management. I underwent focused training in cornea, cataract, and glaucoma during my fellowship at The Royal Perth Hospital, Australia, from January 2007 to January 2008. This tenure equipped me with substantial experience in premium cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease management, refractive laser surgery, trabeculectomies, and glaucoma tube surgery. I also pursued an honorary fellowship in the Moorfield Eye Hospital Cornea Department under Professor John Dart before joining the Royal Derby Hospital.

My specialisation extends to high-volume cataract surgery, where I am among the select few surgeons performing over 1,000 cataract surgeries annually. My professional journey boasts over 10,000 cataract surgeries, more than 1,000 premium IOLs in the private sector, over 500 corneal transplant surgeries, and in excess of 200 trabeculectomies.
